Global Village Hawaii · Cambridge YLE

A Honolulu English programme for primary-age visitors, with optional morning activities before afternoon classes. Parents can study too, but their level and timetable need checking together.

Past edition · next season unverified

Verified 2026 YLE ran 5 January–13 February, 23 March–3 April and 6 July–20 August; all have ended. A 2027 junior schedule was not verified from the official materials reviewed. Use these as planning windows only.

Why it is in this guide

An established junior course with separate 2025 and 2026 brochures, age-appropriate English materials and a one-week minimum. Honolulu offers a Pacific family-stay option outside the European summer-school model.

Who it may suit

Primary-age children who like activity mornings and classroom afternoons, with a parent staying locally. The published Parent & Child option combines adult general English and the child’s YLE activities and tuition.

What to weigh up

YLE is a mixed-level course, not a guarantee of a separate class at every ability. A 2022 parent-style review reported an adult/child timetable conflict and weak challenge for a proficient teenager; confirm these details for the actual intake.

Operating history and evidence

Verified-booking evidence is small and mixed. A 7 August 2024 YLE account liked making friends and learning through enjoyable classes; a 5 August 2025 child rating has no useful narrative. A 23 August 2022 adult account raises practical family scheduling and advanced-learner concerns. These are commercial-platform accounts, not an independent camp inspection.

Verified YLE participant account

A two-week YLE participant described making friends and enjoying English classes.

A short child account, not a parent assessment; verified through the booking platform but too small a sample for broad claims.

Family scheduling caution

An adult reviewer discussing a family stay reported that higher-level adult classes did not line up well with the child’s schedule, and that an already proficient teenager lacked a challenging alternative group.

Older experience covering a teen and adult classes, not proof of a current YLE problem. Useful as a question to check before booking.

Age, language and eligibility

Designed for international visitors; no existing-school enrolment is required. YLE recommends ages 6–12, with Starters/Movers/Flyers materials and a pre-arrival assessment; 12-year-olds may choose YLE or the separate teen course. This profile assumes a parent stays in Honolulu, not unaccompanied boarding.

What the days look like

English lessons are Monday–Friday 13:20–16:50. Optional activities run 09:00–12:30 Tuesday–Friday and from 10:00 on Monday; lunch is 12:30–13:20. There is no YLE Saturday activity in the verified timetable.

Parents, accommodation and transport

School is at 1440 Kapiolani Boulevard, Suite 1100. Families can book a hotel/apartment themselves or ask about separately priced school accommodation and transport. Check the actual commute; Tokyo travel crosses the date line, so plan local arrival and recovery days carefully.

Included costs and the family budget

2026 one-child, one-week YLE tuition + activities + registration totals US$1,110 (Approx. ¥175,000) ($570 + $350 + $190). Tuition includes technology/materials. A published one-week parent-and-child package is $1,298 before two $190 registrations, or $1,678. Before you book

Get a joint parent/child timetable at their assessed levels before committing to accommodation. Confirm 2027 dates, intake nationality mix, mixed-level grouping, lunch supervision and the collection policy. Cambridge-aligned teaching is not a university-run camp.

Cancellation and refunds

The 2026 policy says YLE/TLE activity and lunch fees are non-refundable unless notice is at least four weeks before study. Ordinary pre-start tuition cancellation deducts listed non-refundable fees; after starting, the first four weeks are non-refundable. Accommodation and visa-related cases have separate rules; confirm the specific package terms.
