Why it is in this guide

A defined two-week programme connects classroom Mandarin with cultural tasks in the city. The day format leaves evenings and weekends for family travel, while a residential option becomes available at age 12.

Who it may suit

A strong fit for ages 10–12 travelling with a parent and wanting purposeful Mandarin practice. Classes accept complete beginners through advanced learners. Families with younger siblings should not assume the standard 2027 camp accepts them.

What to weigh up

The current official day/half-day minimum is 10, even though older customer reviews describe younger children. Obtain explicit approval for an under-10 child rather than relying on those reviews. Campus availability, excursion itineraries and the final cancellation terms need checking. The main school page also mentions Chengdu, but the camp-specific 2027 pages list four cities.

Operating history and evidence

Useful child-specific, independently posted Tripadvisor accounts were found: a July 2026 review describes two weeks for ages 10 and 13, and another describes a returning 11-year-old in Beijing. They praise confidence, international friendships and staff communication. These are self-reported reviews, not verified learning outcomes; the Shanghai-labelled listing also mixes campuses. Operator parent stories are separate, curated evidence.

Parent account: two-week camp

Parent of 10- and 13-year-olds describes enjoyable activities, international friendships and greater speaking confidence after two weeks.

Self-reported Tripadvisor account with one contribution; the multi-campus listing does not establish a single campus outcome.

Age, language and eligibility

International campers and visiting families are explicitly welcomed. Day and half-day: ages 10–17; hotel Full Camp: ages 12–17; beginners through advanced levels. The family day option requires parents to provide the child’s accommodation and out-of-camp care. Travel/medical insurance is required, with proof requested on enrolment. Entry permission depends on passport, duration and purpose, not Japan residence.

What the days look like

Two-week day/half-day blocks start 23 Nov or 7 Dec 2026; 4 Jan, 14 Jun, 28 Jun, 12 Jul or 26 Jul 2027. Later winter starts are also listed. Day camp runs weekdays 09:00–15:50, approximately 16:00 pickup, with morning cultural outings and afternoon classes. Half-day is 13:15–15:50. The FAQ specifies three 45-minute lessons daily, with two ten-minute breaks. Full Camp starts 28 Jun or 12 Jul 2027.

Day and half-day accommodation is excluded; families can request separately arranged lodging. Parents handle nights, weekends and daily pickup. Full Camp includes a shared hotel room, two campers per room, with supervising teachers in the hotel, airport transfers and 24-hour supervision.
