Why it is in this guide
Selected for a coherent learning theme within a hotel stay: a short module that can sit inside a longer Hokkaido holiday.
Who it may suit
Japanese-speaking primary pupils curious about animals and food, with a parent ready for an early start.
What to weigh up
Not childcare or English study. Animal biosecurity rules make it unsuitable immediately after overseas travel; the order of your itinerary matters.
Age, language and eligibility
Grades 1–6, recommended ages 10–12. Eligible children take part in herding and milking with one adult required. Japanese only; eligibility is by programme conditions, not a particular school.
What the days look like
The sample starts day two at 05:30 for farm learning and milking, followed by afternoon food-making. Day three includes a research worksheet. Weather and animal condition can change or cancel activities.
Parents, accommodation and transport
The 2026 package included two RISONARE Tomamu nights and breakfasts. Arrange travel from Tokyo and the resort transfer separately; this is a family stay, not a child boarding camp.
Included costs and the family budget
2026 reference, per person sharing a room of four: child ¥68,280+, adult ¥86,400+, including service/tax but excluding lodging tax. This is not a family total; add dinners and travel.
Before you book
Biosecurity: Japan residents with overseas travel in the seven days before check-in cannot participate; overseas residents must already have spent at least seven days in Japan. Check every participating family member’s eligibility with the operator.
